Tallarook 2/131 (M Itter 42, L Watts 38no, J Rudge 37, A Butterworth 2/27) def Yea 9/129 (E Waghorn 39, J Christie 24 B Munari-O’Dwyer 2/18, X Arandt 2/24, M Archibald 2/24)

Round 4 brought together Tallarook and Yea for a Grand Final rematch at Tallarook.

Yea found themselves in early trouble, reduced to 5/37 before Edi Waghorn was able to steady the ship with a well made 39.

He received some strong lower order support from Austen Ross and Will Dalton who helped Yea recover and post a total of 130.

For Tallarook Blake Munari-O’Dwyer, Xavier Arandt and Matt Archibald all claimed two wickets.

Tallarook got off to a slow start in its run chase, with some tight bowling up front, however, were able to get to the drinks break without losing a wicket.

Some quick scoring after the break gave Tallarook the momentum before Mitch Itter was dismissed for 42. Lachlan Watts came in and finished the job with a run a ball 38 not out, backed up by 37 from opener Josh Rudge.

The win ensures Tallarook remains at the top of the ladder heading into Round 5.

Puckapunyal 2/315 (C Davies 218no, N Bennetts 65) def Avenel 5/176 (T Stefanos 76no, C Fountain 2/35)

Charles Davies produced a record innings for Puckapunyal in one of the most dominant performances the SDCA has seen.

Batting first, Puckapunyal lost an early wicket but it was all one way traffic from there as Davies demolished Avenel’s lineup.

Finding the boundary at will, Davies smashed 218 not out off 138 balls with 17 fours and 12 sixes. An incredible knock that had to be seen to be believed.

He was supported by Nicholas Bennetts who hung around for most of the innings to finish on 65.

With such a mammoth total to chase down, Avenel was never really in the game and a couple of early wickets from Ciaran Fountain made sure of it.

Travis Stefanos carried his bat in an innings of 76 not out but Avenel ended up finishing 139 runs short.

Seymour 8/159 (L Drummond 51, D Bergowicz 28, W Ashton 2/36) def Alexandra 8/157 (V Hewage 44, W Ashton 30, B Horkings 2/24, B Pointon 2/25)

Alexandra made the trip to Seymour and made the Maroons work hard for the win after posting a competitive total.

Vinu Hewage with 44 and William Ashton with 30 were pivotal for Alexandra through the middle order before Justin Leary added some valuable lower order runs.

It was an even spread with the ball for Seymour as Brodey Pointon, Braidon Horkings and Dan Bergowicz all finished with two wickets.

Seymour got off to a steady start in the run chase, with Jason Brown and Jack Hesse contributing before the match winning partnership was formed between Lachlan Drummond, who finished on 51, and Dan Bergowicz.

Despite a flurry of late wickets, Seymour was able to get over the line with two batsmen left in the sheds.

The Seymour District Cricket Association (SDCA) is thrilled to announce the launch of its first-ever All Girls Cricket League, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at inspiring more female participation in cricket across the region. The competition will kick off at Puckapunyal on Wednesday, 3 December, with six action-packed rounds scheduled over the first three Wednesdays of December and February. The league will feature four teams: Puckapunyal, Tallarook, Yea, and a composite SDCA All Stars team. In an exciting twist, all games will be played simultaneously, ensuring a fast-paced and engaging experience for players and spectators alike. Matches will follow the popular Master Blaster format, using a soft ball to keep the focus on fun, inclusivity and skill development. The 12 over a side games will see every player bat in a pair for four overs and bowl two overs each. Double runs are on offer in a Power Play Zone and players hit the ball of a tee following a wide or no ball. This format emphasizes teamwork, fast scoring and continuous action, making it perfect for introducing new players to the game while keeping the intensity high. “This is a historic moment for the SDCA,” SDCA President Mitch Itter said. “Our All Girls League is just the beginning of our commitment to growing female participation in cricket. “We’re incredibly excited to see these young athletes take to the field, develop their skills, and build a lifelong love for the game.” “It’s all about having fun while learning the fundamentals. “Master Blaster cricket allows everyone to be involved, and the energy around this league is already electric. “We can’t wait to see the competition unfold over December and February.” The SDCA is encouraging any girls interested in playing to contact their local cricket club or the SDCA President Mitch Itter directly at pres.sdca@gmail.com . With this inaugural season, the association hopes to lay the foundation for a vibrant, long-term pathway for girls in cricket across the region.
